ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination has told that National Assembly that during the last one year no new hospital/health-care units has been established by the federal government in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) or any province.
However, following new hospitals/health care units are under process of construction in Islamabad:
The minister told that House that in addition to the afore-said facilities, a number of projects under Federal Government Polyclinic (FGPC), Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS), National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (NIRM) and District Health Office (DHO) Islamabad are underway/likely to be undertaken during financial year 2019-20, which primarily pertain to replacement of medical equipment and strengthening/up-gradation of different departments of aforesaid hospitals.
The minister also told that presently following four major hospitals are working under administrative control of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination:
The House was further told that there is no powerful and completely independent Drug Authority with Judicial Powers in Pakistan. However, there is a Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
