Declaring Kashmiris’ struggle as terrorism is wrong approach of India: Nawaz

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday declaring the struggle of Kashmiris as terrorism is wrong approach of India, adding that India has always exhibited its traditional stubbornness regarding Kashmir issue.

In his address at a session of the Kashmir Council in Muzaffarabad on Thursday, Sharif said that it is wrong to term the struggle of Kashmiris for their right of self-determination as terrorism.

Sharif also expressed his concerns over the silence of the United Nations and the international community on the issue of Kashmir.

The Pakistani premier urged the UN and the international community to take initiative for resolution of the issue according to UN Security Council’s resolutions and the aspiration of Kashmiri people.

Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Kashmiri people are bonded with eternal bonds. He said that his government is proactively highlighting the issue of Kashmir at every forum.

The prime minister said that economic prosperity in the region cannot be achieved without peace.

The prime minister said that Pakistan wants to resolve the core issue of Kashmir through dialogue and called upon the international community to exert pressure on India to come to the negotiating table.

Sharif regretted that India cancelled foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan without any reason.

Moreover, he said that unprovoked firing on Line of Control (LoC) by the Indian forces have harmed the confidence building measures.
