LONDON: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel has said that Kashmir has to be resolved for long term peace, stability in the region, according to the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa.

“Pakistan wants peace, but with dignity and honor,” the army chief said that while speaking at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London.

The COAS said that our cooperation with the United Kingdom in security and social sectors is growing. He also sought help from the UK in the dignified resettlement of those people who had been displaced due to the operation in North Waziristan and Khyber agencies.

“The world needs to understand our environment,” the army chief said.  

The army chief said that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb being conducted in the North Waziristan tribal region is making good progress with action under way against all terrorists.

“There are no favorites in the operation and all kinds of terrorists are being targeted,” he said.

In addition, he said that the national action plan is comprehensive to address extremism and terrorism being implemented, exclusively in collaboration with the government.  

General Raheel Sharif further said that relations with Afghanistan are improving and the two countries are working for stability in the region.

General Raheel Sharif is currently in the United Kingdom on a three-day official visit to have meetings with the senior British political and military leadership.
