LAHORE, Pakistan: A huge bomb explosion went off at the Johar Town area in Lahore on Wednesday, causing deaths to three persons and injuries to further 24 people.

The explosion took place in a residential area near Allah Hu boulevard.

Talking to the media, the Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani confirmed that it was a vehicle-laden explosive that went off and police was the target.

The IG also confirmed that the blast took place near the residence of proscribed Jamaat Ud Dawa (JuD) Chief Hafiz Saeed.

The explosion also caused damage to several vehicles, motorcycles, and rickshaws while the glasses of nearby buildings were broken.

The injured persons were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar sought a report from the IG Police over the incident and directed an investigation into it.

The Chief Minister also directed Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments to expedite the relief activities.

The Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also took notice of the blast in Johar Town Lahore, and directed the Chief Secretary and IG Punjab to submit a report in this regard.

The minister also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
