Updated PTA Taxes on iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, and 8 Plus

BlogsUpdated PTA Taxes on iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 8, and 8 Plus

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, well known as PTA, has revised the taxes on the smartphones being imported. This increase in the tax is chiefly affected by the decline in the value of rupees.

In order to manage the economy of Pakistan and to stabilize the value of rupees, the government is imposing tax specifically on luxury items importation to promote the phenomena of “Be Pakistani, Buy Pakistani”.

This initiative will help majorly in lowering the rate of import, especially the bulk smartphones importer, and as a result, the rate of export will increase eventually. Irrespective of the situation, many people love to keep a smartphone for their personal use because of the features it provides that ultimately make life easier and handier.

The updated billing has increased the taxes to the extent that besides the actual price of the iPhone 7 and 8 series, customers are expected to pay 90k – 110k in tax.

The tax on iPhone 7 and 7 plus models is 98088 while tax on iPhone 8 and 8 plus is 110311.

The total cost of the iPhone, along with the tax, makes it an expense that is almost out of budget for most users.

Barriers to Creating a Digital Pakistan

The PTA has taken steps to improve the economy’s overall condition by imposing taxes on smartphone. However, they don’t realize that the following initiative affects the movement of creating a “Digital Pakistan” as we as a nation are already lagging in technology.

With the world transitioning from hard-earned money to easy money making, especially through e-commerce, where markets are promoting their brand on a large scale, the following restrictions will further act as an obstacle in creating a digital Pakistan.

Final Thoughts

Although these taxes are imposed for a large good, we still hope for our government to keep the taxes in an adequate range. Also, you can calculate tax on any smartphone using the PTA Tax Calculator. Also, checkout iPhone 13 PTA tax in Pakistan.
