Defence Central Library

Frere Hall Public Library

The building of Frere Hall Public Library was built during the reign of the British and served as Town Hall earlier. After independence, the building took the shape of a library. The library is equipped with a lot of great books for all types of readers. The building is from the British Era so it resembles the colonial period and is inspired by British infrastructure. Another name for Frere Hall Library is Liaquat Library which is one of the popular public libraries in Karachi

Rangoonwala Hall and Community Center Library

The library is located in Dhoraji Society. Rangoonwala Community Center Library holds above 7000 books in its premises. All the books belong to different genres and literatures like Pashto, English, Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi and many others. 

There is a wide reading room where the readers can have a quality time reading their favorite books. The readers can also get newspapers and magazines from the widely-read publishers. The Library has an average of 36,000 readers’ visits all around the year. Anyone can issue a book for taking home, but they need to deposit a small amount of money for security. It is needed in case of damage or losing a book.

Karachi street Library was initiated in 2019 and is known as a 24 hour library in Karachi. The street library is situated in Lyari and Civil lines.

These libraries work on the principle of “take a book, leave a book.” In the street libraries, there are wooden shelves fitted in the walls. There is a wide variety of books that the readers can take and drop any book that they like.
