Just like other needs of our daily life, WiFi has also become something as much important as food and water in this era to stay updated and in touch with people from all over the world. It creates a bridge for the users to get information from different sources and use it further for different purposes. PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited) is the biggest internet service provider in Pakistan. PTCL has been serving as a prominent Internet Service Provider (ISP) across Pakistan and most of the houses, as well as offices, are using it.

However, many among the users don’t know about how they can change their WiFi password of PTCL and so here we have compiled details in the form of a guide to assist you to step by step for this task. After the installation of the new Wi-Fi modem, people want to set a new password for their Wi-Fi. Due to some privacy issues, it is better to change your PTCL Wi-Fi password after installation.

Steps to Follow

If you want to change PTCL WiFi password then you need to follow some steps. The steps to change the PTCL Wi-Fi password are as follows:

  1. Open your Web Browser

In the first step, you need to open your web browser, you use frequently such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera

  1. Type IP address in Search Bar

When you open your Web browser you will a search bar at the top of the browser. Type your IP address on that search bar and press enter. The IP address is 192.168.1.1 for all PTCL broadband users. For some PTCL broadband users, the IP address is 192.168.10.1 (new modem users).

  1. Enter Modem Username and Password

When you press enter, you will see a dialogue box with the following message:

“The server 192.168.1.1 is asking for your username and password. The server reports that it is from the DSL Router”.

You need to type the username and password of your PTCL modem. Most of the time, the default username is “admin” and also the password is “admin”. If the username and password for the PTCL Broadband modem is not “admin” then you can check the username and password of it on the back of the PTCL modem or the modem box.

  1. Entering PTCL Admin Panel

After entering the username and password of the PTCL modem, you will see an admin panel. From this admin panel, you can see all your PTCL modem settings. On the left side of the admin panel, you will see Wireless in the list of options. Click on Wireless.

 

  1. Click on Security

From the list of options, you need to click on Security. After you click on security, you will see a complete form on the right side of the admin panel. Scroll down to the end of this form, you will see an option of WPA/WAPI passphrase bar.

  1. Set a New Password

When you see WPA/WAPI passphrase bar option, click on it to change your Wi-Fi password. After clicking on it, enter a “new password” you want. At the bottom of this form, you will see the Apply button. Click on “Apply” to set a new password for your PTCL Wi-Fi.

After you click on apply, your PTCL Wi-Fi router will restart and your new PTCL Wi-Fi password will be updated automatically. You need to enter a new password on your device if you want to use PTCL Wi-Fi. By following these steps you can change your Wi-Fi password any time you want. Anytime you feel that someone is using your Wi-Fi then you can easily change Wi-Fi using the steps mentioned above.
