Islamabad, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Azerbaijani Minister of Economy H.E. Mikael Jabbarov along with his delegation, agreed to further promote Pakistan-Azerbaijan cooperation, and discussed increasing investment in various sectors
The Prime Minister welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation, conveyed a message of goodwill to the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev.
Agreed to further promote cooperation in the fields of minerals and mining, oil exploration, renewable energy, information technology, infrastructure construction for regional connectivity, defense, hospitality and tourism, and human resource development.
Referring to his recent visit to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have long-standing brotherly relations based on common faith, culture, mutual respect, and brotherhood. Reviewing the implementation of the MoUs and agreements on bilateral cooperation between the two countries during his visit to Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister invited Azerbaijan to benefit from the vast investment opportunities in Pakistan in oil exploration, minerals and mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure for regional connectivity. The Prime Minister also praised the Azerbaijani team for the excellent renovation and development measures in Islamabad after declaring Islamabad and Baku as twin cities.
Referring to the expected visit of the Azerbaijani President, the Prime Minister said that the high-level interest and initiatives between the two countries to increase the trade volume between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to $2 billion are welcome.
The Azerbaijani Minister thanked Pakistan for the wonderful hospitality extended to his delegation and expressed Azerbaijan’s deep interest in promoting cooperation and trade with Pakistan in various fields. The Azerbaijani Minister of Economy expressed satisfaction over the progress made in renewable energy, white oil pipeline, SOCAR’s investment in Pakistan, and Azerbaijan’s investment in Pakistan’s infrastructure.
The meeting also informed about the delegation’s meetings in Pakistan, cooperation in various sectors, promotion of trade, international North-South communication corridor, white oil pipeline, establishment of easy-to-use facilitation centers in Pakistan for improving governance, and Azerbaijan’s investment in motorways for regional connectivity in Pakistan.
