Taliban cut land access of Afghanistan to all neighboring countries Kabul, Afghanistan: After claiming gains to all bordering provinces, Taliban have virtually locked already land locked Afghanistan by cutting access of country to neighboring five countries – Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China and Pakistan. According to information reaching Kabul, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and China have closed down their borders with Afghanistan on Saturday. Tajikistan and Iran have installed special troops at their borders because Afghans are trying to cross borders and entering into neighbouring countries. , Iranian Army Lieutenant Commander for Operations Brigadier General Farhad Arianfar confirmed the slightest movement along the country's Eastern borders is being monitored round the clock. "We closely monitor any movement in the vicinity of Iran's Eastern borders and we will prevent any unauthorized entry through these borders," General Arianfar said while visiting Iran's Eastern borders, reports Iranian official media. “Apparently, the strategy of controlling provinces adjacent to all neighbouring countries was to cut land route of Afghanistan with Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China and Pakistan as Afghanistan is completely dependent upon import of fuel and wheat and stocks cannot go for long, reports Eurasian News while citing a sources in Kabul administration. During a press conference in Moscow, Taliban leaders claim they are now controlling 85 per cent of Afghanistan territory while Kabul government has denied the claim.
