PESHAWAR: One lady worker was killed and another was critically injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on an anti-polio vaccination team in Badbher area in the suburbs of Peshawar on Tuesday, police officials said.

The injured women were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for treatment.

Lady Reading Hospital officials said that one of the attacked women had succumbed to her wounds whereas the condition of the other injured woman was stated as critical.

Security forces cordoned off the site of attack as a probe into the incident went underway.
