The Dawah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has begun accepting applications for Aitekaf 2019 at Faisal Masjid.
The applications would be accepted on first come first get basis as a limited number of persons would be selected to observe Aitekaf at Faisal Masjid.
However, those Muslims who observed Aitekaf consecutively in last three years at Faisal Mosque won’t be selected this year. Likewise, under 18-year-old boys, disabled, aged, ailing persons and those suffering from infectious diseases won’t be registered for Aitekaf at the mosque as well.
Mu’takif (those observing Itikaf) would be bound to attend special religious programs and lectures organized by Dawah Academy and follow stipulated rules.
Each year, around 1,000 men from Twin Cities (Islamabad & Rawalpindi) observe Aitekaf at Faisal Masjid in Islamabad.
Aitekaf is a tradition from the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and Muslims observe it in last 10 days of Holy Month of Ramazan by worshipping in seclusion by hanging cloth to form cubicles in mosques while women sit in a quiet room in their homes.
