Anti-polio drive continues in Balochistan amid strict security

QUETTA, Pakistan: In order to avert any untoward incident during the ongoing anti-polio drive in six districts of Balochistan, strict security measures have been adopted for polio teams.

The three-day anti-polio campaign began on Monday in Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Sherani, Zhob and Lasbela districts of Balochistan, during which about 857,838 children below the age of five years would be administered polio drops.

The provincial health department said that as many as 1,831 teams have been formed to take part in the anti-polio campaign, out of which 232 will be deployed at fixed sites, 91 at transit routes and 130 in union councils.
