Anti-dengue drive continues in Punjab

RAWALPINDI: An anti-dengue drive is underway across the Punjab province by the Punjab environment protection agency (Punjab-EPA) as it sealed four more tyre shops in Rawalpindi after finding them a potential hub for dengue larva breeding.

   

The District Officer Environment Rawalpindi Mian Muhammed Nawaz said that the agency teams visited around 26 sites including 16 tyre shops, nine junkyards and a nursery for inspection and prevention of lethal dengue mosquito’s possible brought-up in the summer season.

Nawaz said that although the EPA teams found no dengue larva during the inspection but all possible measures were being taken to keep the surroundings clear of dengue mosquito.

In replying to a question, he said that the EPA teams have sealed 115 premises including tyre shops and junkyards since February 1 after inspecting 2,347 tyre shops, junkyards, nurseries, under-construction sites and godowns.
