Moscow, Russia: Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi Pakistan believes that Pakistan is natural connector between Central Asia and South Asia.
While addressing the Official Opening and Plenary Session of the International Business Trends Forum 2026, organized by the Faculty of International Business at MGIMO University, Ambassador Tirmizi said that Eurasia is has become the most important region on global diplomatic sphere and Pakistan is natural connector between Central Asia and South Asia.
Held under the theme “International Business Trends: Technologies, Markets, People,” the Forum brings together senior officials, diplomats, academics and business leaders to discuss technological development, emerging markets and international economic cooperation. Ambassador Tirmizi joined the opening plenary alongside senior Russian officials, business representatives and Ambassadors of several countries.
Addressing the session, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Russian Federation Faisal Niaz Tirmizi noted that as new power structures emerge globally, new patterns of trade are also evolving, requiring stronger partnerships and greater connectivity.
Speaking about Pakistan–Russia relations, he identified visa facilitation, direct air connectivity and efficient logistics as three important enablers for expanding bilateral trade, tourism, business exchanges and people-to-people contacts.
The Ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s position as a natural connector between Central Asia and South Asia, offering important land and maritime connectivity routes. He also noted that around 68 percent of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 26, describing this youthful demographic as both an advantage and a challenge requiring investment in education, skills and employment.
Ambassador Tirmizi underscored the importance of bringing business and science closer together, particularly through stronger links between academia, innovation and the private sector.
Referring to the growing momentum in Pakistan–Russia relations, he noted the expected visit of the Russian Interior Minister to Pakistan in October as another manifestation of sustained high-level engagement between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Ambassador Tirmizi interacted with students at MGIMO, exchanging views on Pakistan and the evolving international environment, while encouraging greater academic and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and Russia.
