Monitoring Desk: Pakistan called on Russia to use its diplomatic influence with Israel to help ease the ongoing military tensions in the Middle East, according to Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi.
In a special interview with Russian media outlet RTVI, Ambassador Tirmizi stated that Islamabad has maintained consistent and open communication channels with Moscow. Through these channels, Pakistan conveyed its concerns and urged Russia to impress upon Israel the potentially severe consequences of escalating conflict with Iran.
The ambassador emphasized that a full-scale war between Israel and Iran would have “deplorable consequences” not only for the region but also for Israel itself, underlining Pakistan’s push for restraint and dialogue.
Tirmizi also confirmed that delegations from the United States and Iran are expected to arrive in Islamabad, where negotiations between the two sides are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 11. The anticipated talks are being viewed as part of broader international efforts to prevent further escalation and to seek a diplomatic resolution to the crisis.
Meanwhile, Russia has reiterated its willingness to play a constructive role in de-escalating tensions. Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexey Dedov told RTVI that Moscow is prepared to facilitate conflict resolution through political and diplomatic means, while taking into account Iran’s legitimate interests.
Dedov stressed that Russia supports an immediate cessation of hostilities and welcomes mediation efforts by third-party countries. He specifically highlighted Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt as actively engaged in promoting dialogue and peace in the region.
The developments signal growing international coordination aimed at preventing a wider conflict in the Middle East, with Pakistan positioning itself as a key diplomatic player in ongoing peace efforts.
