BEIJING, China: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi on Saturday participated at the Inauguration Ceremony of an Exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the slogan “Love Our China, Repair the Great Wall.”

The Exhibition was held at Badaling Section of the Great Wall near Beijing.

While speaking at the Ceremony, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi underscored the symbolic significance of the Great Wall in China’s cultural heritage and its representation of resilience and strength.Ambassador Khalil Hashmi attends exhibition on 40th anniversary of slogan “Love Our China, Repair the Great Wall”

The ambassador also recalled Pakistan’s contribution to the restoration of a portion of the Great Wall in 1989 as a symbol of iron clad friendship between Pakistan and China.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi drew a parallel between the Great Wall and Pakistan’s ancient city of Taxila, a seat of Buddhism, and the Indus Valley Civilization, emphasizing shared historical and cultural ties between the two nations.

The envoy underlined that Pakistan and China have always enjoyed a unique and time-tested friendship, based on mutual respect, trust, and the desire to grow together. He underlined that partnership between the two countries is enriched by a deep cultural understanding which goes beyond economic and political cooperation.

The ambassador analogised friendship between Pakistan and China with Great Wall —strong, unbreakable, stable and enduring. He reaffirmed to continue to build on the foundation by expanding collaboration in diverse fields, from trade and infrastructure to cultural exchange.

Among others, the event was attended by Chinese scholars and leaders including member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Bian Jinping who discussed the Great Wall’s role as a symbol of international resilience and creativity.

In their welcoming note, they also appreciated Pakistan’s contribution to the preservation of the Great Wall.
