ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said revamping the energy sector is PML-N government’s top priority for next year’s Public Sector Development Programme.

In a briefing on Monday (June 10)‚ he said the government has allocated one hundred and seven (107) billion rupees for the energy sector‚ while WAPDA and PEPCO will separately invest one hundred eighteen billion rupees to enhance power generation.

   

Ahsan Iqbal said twenty-five point two (25.2) billion rupees have been allocated for the construction of Diamir-Bhahsa dam and acquisition of land‚ twenty-five (25) billion rupees for Neelum-Jehlum hydro electricity project‚ fourteen (14) billion rupees for Tarbela expansion projection‚ ten (10) billion rupees for Karachi Nuclear Energy project and forty-two (42) billion rupees for Chashma III and IV projects.

The minister said forty-three (43) billion rupees have been allocated for FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan.
