Kabul, Afghanistan: The first time the whole of Afghanistan is now under the control of the Taliban as Panjshir province has fallen to them. During their regime, the Taliban failed to conquer Panjshir Valley when Ahmad Shah Masooud was alive. Taliban failed to enter Valley during their four-year regime. The major reason for failures was that Taliban were considered as sole Pushtun ethnic group while today several Taliban commanders belong to northern Afghanistan.

Releasing several videos, the Taliban announced victory of Panjshir province, the last stronghold of anti-Taliban resistance forces in Afghanistan. According to information former vice president Amrullah Saleh and Ahmed Masooud have fled to Tajikistan on a helicopter.

The Taliban also raised their flag atop the Panjshir Governor’s office, reported Asvaka news.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has said that with the help of God Almighty and with the broad support of our nation, our latest efforts for the complete security of the country and the province have paid off. He said now 100 percent of Afghanistan is under the control of the Taliban.

Zabihullah Mujahid said in Panjshir, a number of resistance force members were beaten while the rest fled. He claimed that the “oppressed and honorable people” of Panjshir were released from hostages.

“They were rescued. We give full assurance to the honorable people of Panjshir that they will not be discriminated against, they are all our brothers and we will serve a country and a common goal. With this recent victory and efforts, our country has completely come out of the vortex of war, and our people will have a peaceful and happy life in the atmosphere of freedom, independence and prosperity,” he said.
