In a press conference held in Islamabad on Friday, the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed along with the MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar made the announcement in this regard.

Earlier the two sides held successful dialogue process at which the MQM demanded the formation of a complaint redressal committee which the government agreed upon.

Farooq Sattar while addressing the press conference thanked the federal government for demonstrating seriousness in talks and listening to MQM’s reservations.

The MQM announced that the party would take back their resignations and rejoin the national and provincial assemblies and the Senate from next week onwards.

Ishaq Dar said that the redressal committee will have to complete its work on complaints received within 90 days. He said that the redressal committee will have the secretary interior as its convener.

The minister said that the committee will include five members but their names will be announced after consultations with the MQM.

The finance minister further said that the government wanted the MQM to play its role in the Parliament.

On August 12, the MQM lawmakers had tendered their resignations from the National Assembly, Senate and the Sindh Assembly due to reservations over the Rangers-led operation in Karachi.

Later, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif assigned a task to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman of persuading the MQM lawmakers to withdraw their resignations and continue to play their positive role in the Parliament.

The MQM and the government-nominated team held talks to resolve the issue but later the MQM withdraw from talks, alleging that the government was not serious about the dialogue process.
