The intelligence sources said that after receiving information about the presence of Al-Qaeda Commander Ahad in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, the security forces carried out an operation in the area.

But in the meantime, an exchange of fire erupted between the security forces and terrorists which led to the death of two terrorists including Ahad, the leader of Al-Qaeda activity in Karachi.

The sources said that Ahad was also involved in the Safoora attack at which 45 members of the Ismaili community were killed in April this year.

But unfortunately, the Assistant Director Muhammad Sajjad was also killed as a result of firing by terrorists.

The security forces also arrested some suspects including a woman during the action.

The law enforcement agencies including the Rangers and police have been carrying an operation in Karachi since September 2013 against criminals involved in targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism in the city.
