ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Muslims across Pakistan are set to celebrate Eidul Fitr on Saturday after the formal announcement regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman in Islamabad on Friday evening.
Every year Muslims around the world including in Pakistan celebrate Eidul Fitr with great religious fervour, enthusiasm and zeal after the moon of Shawwal is sighted which marks the end of Ramazan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar during which Muslims observe 29 or 30 days of fasting.
On Saturday morning, Eid congregations will be held at open places‚ mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities and towns of the country, and the Ulema in their sermons will highlight significance and philosophy of Eidul Fitr.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will celebrate Eid in Saudi Arabia, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in London, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif in Waziristan agency, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and Co-Chairman – Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari – in Dubai and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad.
Unfortunately since last few years, two Eids are being celebrated in Pakistan and no change is going to happen this year as well. Though in most parts of country, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday but in some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas, the first day of Eid has already been celebrated today.
Various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where Eidul Fitr was celebrated today included Bannu, Kohat, Charsadda, Mardan, Swat, Hangu and Peshawar.
The celebrations of Eidul Fitr also took place in parts of Federal Administrated Tribal Areas’ (FATA) Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Kurram and Orakzai agencies.
On the other hand, Eidul Fitr was also celebrated in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Australia and many other countries.
