LAHORE: In a bid to reach a consensus on a name for the position of caretaker chief minister of Punjab, a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee will be held on Sunday at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Saturday.

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) has given names of Rana Sanaullah, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and Iqbal Chantar for the committee members.

On the other hand, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has nominated Shaukat Basra, Zulfikar Gondal and Chaudhry Zaheeruddin for the panel.

Ealier today, the PPP withdrew the names of Mian Amer Mahmood and Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa for the position of Punjab’s caretaker chief minister and proposed the names of renowned political analyst Najam Sethi along with that of Justice (retd) Zahid Hussain.

The parliamentary committee will have three days to reach a consensus on the interim CM.

If the committee fails to pick the caretaker CM within prescribed time, the matter will be referred to the Election Commission.
