ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian Counterpart Narendra Modi will meet in Russia on July 10 on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.

The summit is set to take place in the Russian City of Ufa on July 8-10 at which the member countries along with other issues will consider applications submitted by a number of states including Pakistan and India for their SCO membership.

India and Pakistan’s admission to the SCO will play an important role in the SCO’s development, it will play a constructive role in pushing for the improvement of their bilateral relations,” the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping said.

The meeting between Pakistan and Indian prime ministers comes days after Modi held a telephonic conversation with Nawaz and extended greetings to him on the arrival of holy month of Ramazan.

During the talks, the two leaders expressed their desire to normalize bilateral relations between Pakistan and India. Later, the two countries also released each other’s fisherman detained in their respective jails.

The Indian media citing unnamed sources said that during talks with Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of SCO Summit in Russia, Narendra Modi is expected to raise India’s concerns on terrorism including the release of Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi, the alleged 26/11 mastermind who has walked free earlier this year.
