Nawaz Sharif to inaugurate Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro bus service on June 3

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro bus service on June 3, a 23-kilometer bus rapid transit system to serve over 1,50,000 people of the twin cities daily.

In a press briefing in Rawalpindi after visit of metro bus service route on Monday, the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said that 24 bus stations have been constructed along the 23 kilometers long route.

The Chief Minister said that the metro bus service will provide better transportation to the people of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He said that this is a unique project of its kind meant to facilitate the masses.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the project has been completed in a record time with complete transparency. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government will continue to work for the welfare of the masses of the country in all circumstances.

Moreover, he said that the Metro Bus service will soon start in Multan. He said that elaborate security arrangements have been made for the security of the passengers, buses and the infrastructure.

Earlier, the Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed, parliamentarians and the PML-N Rawalpindi leadership travelled in metro buses from the Secretariat Station Islamabad as the final test drive of Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service was held today.

Talking to media while travelling by metro bus in its last test drive, the information minister said that the government has the resolve to provide better living standard to the people.

The information minister said that the metro bus will provide better travelling service to a common man. He termed the metro bus as pick and drop service for the students, patients, traders and other common commuters who have no personal vehicle.

The minister assured that the federal government will also assist the other provincial governments if they launch such public welfare projects.
