Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan ink two agreements in Bishkek

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan on Thursday signed two agreements related to cooperation in disaster management and anti-narcotics.

The signing ceremony was held in Bishkek on Thursday where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Kyrgyz Counterpart Sariyev Temir were also present.

Earlier, Sharif held a meeting with Sariyev Temir in Kyrgyzstan’s capital to discuss issues of cooperation in diverse fields.

During the meeting, the Pakistani premier appreciated the political maturity which the people of Kyrgyzstan have shown in developing its democratic culture and norms. He said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have common history, culture, faith and desire for peaceful, stable and prosperous region.

Later, the two sides also held delegation level talks at which the two prime ministers led their respective sides.

Both the two sides discussed ways and means to enhance bilateral cooperation in different fields including economy, trade and energy during the delegation level talks.

Nawaz Sharif is also scheduled to hold talks with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev.

Earlier in the day, Nawaz Sharif accompanied by the federal ministers and other senior officials arrived in Bishkek on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan after concluding a two-day visit to Turkmenistan.
