Four militants affiliated with BLA killed in Karachi operation

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Sindh Rangers personnel have killed four militants affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Old Golimar area of Karachi on Saturday.

In a statement, a spokesman of Pakistan Rangers said that six militants were also injured when Rangers personnel carried out a search operation in the area but an encounter erupted with militants.

The spokesman said that those militants killed in the encounter included Khalid Mandhi, Chota Sajid, Babul Baloch and Rafique.

The Rangers spokesman said that they were engaged in extortion, kidnapping for ransom and were allegedly behind a number of targeted killings.

Moreover, a large cache of weapons and explosive materials were also recovered from their possession, he said.

Karachi peace to be restored at all costs: Corps Commander

Meanwhile, the Corps Commander Karachi Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar said that the Karachi operation is aimed at restoring peace of the city and it would be done at all costs.

In his address at a seminar in Karachi on Saturday afternoon, he vowed that terrorists, their facilitators, target killers and extortionists would not be spared. He said that the Karachi operation would be taken to its logical conclusion.

The corps commander said that police and administration need to be liberated from interference and efficiency of law enforcing agencies should be enhanced.

Naveed Mukhtar also proposed formation of a Reconciliation Commission to promote peace and harmony.
