Unknown assailants kill doctor in Karachi

KARACHI, Pakistan: Unknown assailants riding a motorcycle shot dead a homeopathic doctor in Karachi on Saturday in another incident of target killing in Pakistan’s largest metropolitan city.

The incident took place in Nazimabad area of Karachi where Dr Anwar Ali Abidi was killed at his clinic due to firing, according to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Captain Chaudhry Asad Ali.

The SSP said that in the incident, another person also sustained injuries who was later taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The assailants fled the scene after killing the doctor and a after a shortwhile security personnel reached the spot and cordoned the area.

Law and order situation has improved in Karachi: President

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that law and order situation has improved in Balochistan and Karachi as a result of the effective measures taken by the government.

In his address at the convocation of Jinnah University for Women in Karachi on Saturday, he said that Karachi will be reverted to its original status of the city of lights, and in future, no one will dare to disturb the law and order in the city.

The president assured that the killers of professors Shakil Auj and Dr Waheed-ur Rehman would be arrested soon.
