Chinese president terms Zarb-e-Azb's remarkable results as game changer

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping has termed Pakistan’s armed forces operation Zarb-e-Azb’s remarkable results as game changer in bringing peace which will contribute to Pakistan’s economic development.

In a meeting with services chiefs in Islamabad on Monday evening, Xi Jinping appreciated Pakistan’s strenuous efforts in counterterrorism.

The Chinese president vowed to stand by Pakistan in all its endeavours and continue to support it in fight against terrorism to bring stability in the region.

His meeting with services chiefs occurred as the Chinese president accompanied by a delegating is currently in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

Xi Jinping after his arrival in Islamabad earlier in the day, held delegating level talks with the Pakistani delegation led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The two countries also signed 51 agreements and Memorandums Of Understandings (MoUs) related to Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, research technology, education and other fields.

The prime minister also hosted a banquet in honour of the Chinese president and the first lady Peng Liyuan in Islamabad. The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also present on the occasion.

Moreover, the Chinese president also met political leaders of various parties including former president and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Qaumi Watan Party Chief Aftab Sherpao, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) leader Liaqat Baloch and others in Islamabad.
