Indian troops again resort to unprovoked firing in Shakargarh sector

SIALKOT, Pakistan: The Indian border forces (BSF) again resorted to unprovoked firing in Shakargarh sector, according to a spokesman of Chenab Rangers.

However, no casualties were reported in the firing.

The spokesman said that the Indian firing which started last night continued till morning. He said that the Rangers personnel fully responded to the Indian fire.

On Wednesday, two personnel of Pakistani Rangers were killed when the BSF resorted to unprovoked firing ahead of a flag meeting ceremony in the Shakargarh sector of Narowal district.

Later, the Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to lodge a strong protest on the unprovoked firing of the Indian troops that left two Rangers personnel including Naik Riaz and Lance Naik Safdar martyred.

“The Government of Pakistan strongly condemned the action of the BSF troops, which is in violation of the commitment by both sides to maintain ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

The statement said that the Indian government has been urged to investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure maintenance of peace and tranquillity along the LoC and the Working Boundary.
