Ishaq Dar urges Imran Khan to withdraw his protest call

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar has urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to withdraw his protest calls to create an environment conducive to dialogue.

Talking to a private Television channel, he said that the federal government wants to resolve the current political issue through dialogue with the PTI.

The finance minister said that wisdom must prevail and Imran Khan should not make the issue of dialogue a matter of ego in the supreme national interest.

Ishaq Dar said that the marches and sit-ins have badly affected the national economy and the country’s image abroad.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while talking to media in the United Kingdom where reached to attend the London Conference on Afghanistan, said that the government is ready to hold talks with PTI but they should be constructive and meaningful.

The prime minister said that Imran Khan’s call to bring life at standstill in the country was inappropriate.

Nawaz Sharif said that the government was not running away from talks but dialogue cannot be held under the shadow of threats.
