LHC admits petition seeking to ban PPP, PMLN & JUI-F

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday accepted a petition, seeking to ban Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) for failing to hold intra-party elections.

The petition was filed by Gohar Nawaz Sindhu, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) legal counsel. However, he filed the petition in his personal capacity.

In his petition, Sindhu asked the provincial court to ban the PPP, PML-N and JUI-F for not holding intra-party elections which is a clear violation of party Act.

The petitioner said that these political parties should, therefore, be barred from contesting the elections.
