ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Friday directed Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) to evolve a strategy to facilitate overseas Pakistanis to exercise their right to vote, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

A three-member of the apex court headed by Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up hearing of a case pertaining to giving facilities to overseas Pakistanis for casting their votes in the forthcoming elections.

During the course of hearing, the court remarked that all the relevant government organizations must make it sure that overseas Pakistanis are able to cast their votes in the upcoming general elections.

The court directed that such facilities should be made available with the help of OPF and NADRA. The court also directed that arrangements should be made to enroll overseas Pakistanis and asked Attorney General to take measures in this regard.

The court further said that Attorney General with the help of NADRA and Ministry of IT should devise a practical mechanism for ensuring voting by overseas Pakistanis.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till March 19.
