President Mamnoon stresses closer military ties between Pakistan, Nigeria

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan and Nigeria should explore avenues for further forging closer military ties, especially in areas of military training and defence technologies.

In a meeting with the Nigerian Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu who called on him in Islamabad on Monday, the president said that the two countries faced common menace of terrorism and in this regard defence co-operation between the two countries should be further strengthened.

The president said that Pakistan and Nigeria could mutually share knowledge and expertise in diverse fields including science and technology and defence services.

The Nigerian chief of air staff thanked the president for the warm welcome he was accorded during his visit to Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, the Nigerian air force chief called on the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt in Islamabad, and discussed professional matters of mutual interest.

The Nigerian air force chief along with an eight-member delegation is in Pakistan on a five-day official visit at the invitation of the PAF.
