PM denies speculation Pakistan sending its troops to Saudi Arab, Bahrain

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is not sending its troops to Saudi Arab or Bahrain nor it has been approached to do so, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said in his address to a renaming ceremony of the PAF Mianwali airbase on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Mianwali airbase was renamed as M.M. Alam airbase with the prime minister presiding over the plaque inauguration.

The prime minister said that none of the country has requested Pakistan to send its forces nor Pakistan will send its forces to any other country.

His statement came at a time when the King of Bahrain Shaikh Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa accompanied by a high-level delegation including members of cabinet, government officials and important businessmen is on a three-day official visit to Pakistan.

The premier said that Bahraini king’s visit to Pakistan is beneficial to the country and should be viewed as such. He said that the country is faced with multiple challenges and timely decisions need to be made.

Sharif said that  the recent visit of  Saudi Crown Prince also reflects that Pakistan foreign policy is moving in the right direction. He hoped that these visits will go a long way in further strengthening Pakistan’s ties with Muslim countries.

On Wednesday, the King of Bahrain along with his delegation made an unprecedented visit to the Joint Services Headquarters (JSHQ) in Rawalpindi where both sides discussed brotherly relations between the two countries and vowed to further enhance military cooperation.
