Senior lawyer killed in Lahore

LAHORE: A senior advocate Shakir Ali Rizvi was gunned down by unidentified men near the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the Lytton Road police limits on Friday, sending a wave of shock and anger among the legal community of the city as they immediately stopped court work and went on a strike, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 19 October, 2012.

According to police, the victim-lawyer was his on way to the LHC on his vehicle from his office at Jain Mandar to appear before the court in a murder case when two unidentified armed men, riding a Honda 125 motorcycle, sprayed bullets on his car, injuring him critically. The assailants fled from the scene.

Rescue 1122 shifted the victim to the Ganga Ram Hospital; however, he succumbed to injuries after a few hours at the hospital, police said.
