IndiaIndian hints at possible military retaliation against Pakistan over soldiers’ killing

NEW DELHI: Indian Defense Minister AK Antony said on Thursday that the incident of killings of five Indian soldiers in an attack on an army post in the disputed Kashmir region this week would hurt warming relations with its neighbor and hinted at possible military retaliation.

“Our restraint should not be taken for granted, nor should the capacity of our armed forces and resolve of the government to uphold the sanctity of the Line of Control ever be doubted,” Antony told parliament on Thursday, referring to the LoC dispute at Kashmir.

The defense minister said that “specialist troops” of the Pakistani army were responsible for the killings.

“It is now clear that specialist troops of Pakistan army were involved in this attack,” he said.

On the other hand, Pakistan has denied any involvement in Tuesday’s attack, saying that two Pakistani soldiers were injured in Indian firing.
