India goes rough globally: Does New Delhi remember Kulbhushan Jadhav?

Diplomatic CircleIndia goes rough globally: Does New Delhi remember Kulbhushan Jadhav?

Islamabad, Pakistan: India which faces criticism globally for executing global trans-border, transcontinental terrorism out of nowhere alleged Pakistan for terrorism but got a befitting response from Pakistan on Wednesday.

The Foreign Office of Pakistan diplomatically ‘takes strong exception’ and denounces the provocative remarks made by the Indian Defence Minister as well as the Indian Army chief while the Pakistan Army released a strong and clear response to allegations of Indian civil and military leadership on Wednesday.

It is pertinent to mention that in 2024, Rajnath Singh confessed India operates death squads on foreign soil. He stated:

If any terrorist tries to disturb India, he will be given a fitting reply. If he escapes to Pakistan we will go there to kill him,” Singh said in an interview to an Indian TV channel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear this policy is ‘right’ and that “India can do so,” he added in a smug tone. The Guardian newspaper reported that the Indian government has orchestrated as many as 20 extrajudicial killings in Pakistan since 2020. India’s foreign ministry was quick to dismiss the exposé as “false and malicious propaganda”, but Singh’s confession defies this denial.

It was the first time a senior government minister had publicly acknowledged what Delhi had been hiding for decades. Singh has confirmed the existence of an officially sanctioned Indian policy of extrajudicial murder of political dissidents and critics on foreign soil. A country having such a record had no moral justification to accuse a neighboring country that is a victim of Indian transborder terrorism and the video statements of Indian Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav confirmed that India had been investing, executing, and planning terror attacks in Pakistan’s soil.

Yadav, in the video released by Pakistan, said:

“I am still a serving officer in the Indian Navy and will be due for retirement in 2022. By 2002, I commenced intelligence operations. In 2003, I established a small business in Chabahar in Iran. As I was able to achieve undetected existence and visits to Karachi in 2003 and 2004 and, having done some basic assignments within India for RAW, I was picked up by RAW in 2013”.

Pakistan Army in its statement said that insinuating Pakistan as the epi-center of terrorism by the Indian Army Chief is not only contrary to facts but also an exercise in futility to beat the dead horse of India’s default position – blaming Pakistan for indigenous reaction to state-sponsored brutality. It is a classic case of extreme duplicity. Remarks are an attempt to deflect the world’s attention from India’s brutality in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK), repression of minorities internally, and India’s transnational repression. The General Officer, in his earlier stint in llOJK personally oversaw the most brutal repression of Kashmiris. Such politically motivated and fallacious statements reflect the extreme politicization of the Indian Army.

Instead of trying to conjure up a non-existent terror infrastructure in Pakistan, it would be wise not to indulge in self-delusion, and appreciate the ground reality. The sobering fact that a senior serving Indian military officer is in Pakistan’s custody, caught red-handed while orchestrating acts of terror against innocent civilians inside Pakistan, seems to have been conveniently ignored by the General.

On 25 January 2024, Pakistan provided irrefutable evidence, elucidating India’s campaign of extrajudicial and transnational assassinations on Pakistani soil. India’s assertion of its preparedness to extra-judicially execute more civilians, arbitrarily pronounced as “terrorists”, inside Pakistan constitutes a clear admission of culpability. The international community must hold India accountable for its heinous and illegal actions. Pakistan stands resolute in its intent and ability to safeguard its sovereignty against any act of aggression, as demonstrated by its robust response to India’s reckless incursion in February 2019, which laid bare India’s hollow claims of military superiority.
