The Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP) Patron-in-Chief Jahangir Khan Tareen has announced to quit politics after an embarrassing defeat in recent Elections 2024.
In a post on X on Monday, Jahangir Tareen said that “I would like to thank everyone who supported me in this election and want to offer my congratulations to my opponents. I have immense respect for the will of the people of Pakistan. Therefore, I have decided to resign from my position as Chairman IPP and step away from politics altogether.”
The IPP leader further wrote “My gratitude to all the members of IPP. I wish them the absolute best.” “By the Grace of Allah, I will continue to serve my country to the best of my ability in a private capacity.”
In general elections held on February 08, 2024, Jahangir Khan Tareen were vying in NA-149 and NA-155; however, he lost both the National Assembly’s Constituencies from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Independent Candidate Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Muhammad Siddique Khan Baloch respectively.
In NA-149, Jahangir Tareen secured 50,166 votes against his rival Aamir Dogar who bagged 143,613 votes whereas in NA-155, he managed to receive 71,128 votes against 117,671 votes of Siddique Baloch, as per the Form-47 issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
