SHANGHAI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his entourage on Saturday arrived in Shanghai from Beijing through high speed train to attend energy conference.

During the travel, the prime minister held four meetings with various delegates and discussed different development and power projects. Project Chief Engineer and General Manager High Speed Train Management Zhao Guotang gave detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on high speed train project.

Prime Minister, who is on his first foreign tour in China, expressed desire to execute such projects in different cities of Pakistan to fulfill his commitment of providing affordable and comfortable transport facility to his people.

To a Prime Minister’s question, Zhao Guotang said China has achieved excellence in designing and manufacturing of high speed trains.

“The method of innovation and cutting edge technology used in this train has also been developed by China itself,” the project chief engineer informed.

Prime Minister was apprised that around 0.22 million people travel on this high speed train daily and the train covers 1318 kilometer distance from Beijing to Shanghai within 4.45 hours.

He said almost 87 percent portion of the rail track was elevated and the highest speed of the train is 310 kilometer per hour.

However, the chief engineer told the Prime Minister that the cost of the project can be decreased using latest technology.
