Health300-bed Policlinic Expansion Project to be completed in 2 years

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister of Health Dr. Nadeem Jan on Thursday Inspected the Policlinic Expansion Project in G-11 Islamabad.

During his visit, the health minister was briefed by the relevant authorities about the project.

The minister said that the Polyclinic Expansion Project consists of 300 beds, and it will be completed in two years.

Dr. Nadeem Jan emphasized that there will be no compromise on quality, and no delays in the construction work, further stressing that public welfare and well-being projects must be completed on time.

The federal minister mentioned that the construction of the hospital will not only benefit the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi but also the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The hospital will provide facilities for diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, maternity care, allergies, bone and joint problems, chest and heart diseases, and skin issues, he informed.

The health minister said that we are making progress in the short-term mission of reforms. He added that progress in the health sector is not possible without reforms.

The minister pointed out that along with growth of population, diseases are also increasing, and resources are limited to tackle them.

In this context, a revolutionary project has been initiated to reduce the burden on large hospitals, he said.

Furthermore, he said that 460 primary health centers will be revamped across the Country.

The minister said that the foundation of a robust healthcare system has been laid under the agenda of Global Health Security to prevent the spread of cross-border diseases. He added that the Pharma Pakistan project will enhance the provision of medicines on a permanent basis.

Dr. Nadeem Jan also said that a plan is in place to promote vaccine production in Pakistan.

Similarly, he said that merit and transparency are being promoted in the field of medical education and PMDC is mandated to ensure this.

The health minister informed that reforms are underway in the Pakistan Nursing Council. He also told that strict actions are being taken to promote merit and transparency in the PMDC. He said that an online system has been introduced to ensure transparency in PMDC.

Also, he said that a mechanism has been established to monitor the functionality of DRAP. Likewise, a mobile application has been launched for the resolution of public complaints. He further told that a comprehensive plan has been devised to eliminate counterfeit and unregistered drugs.
