When Maria Wasti started acting, there was only one entertainment channel in Pakistan, Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). She was only 16 years old when she worked in the drama serial, Sarah Aur Ammara that aired in 1996.  Maria got this role as she gained PTV’s Programme Manager, Bakhtiar Ahmed. She did this role alongside Resham. Then she played a challenging role in Bano Qudsia’s Kallo in which she transformed herself into a dark-complexioned girl who falls in love with a fairer man. 

She has also tried her luck in hosting and has been successful at it. Her famous morning show was Sunrise in Istanbul which she used to host on a ship. She invited a lot of Pakistani celebrities on her show for interviews. Then, she also hosted a game show, Croron Mein Khel on Bol Entertainment. Maria Wasti has also worked in Pakistani film, Ramchand Pakistani in 2008.
