GILGIT, Pakistan: The Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan has been disqualified for possessing a fake degree.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Member Ghulam Shahzad Agha had filed a fake Degree Case against the Chief Minister, on which a three-member larger bench of the Chief Court headed by Justice Inayat Rehman announced the verdict on Tuesday.

CM Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid disqualifiedEarlier in the day, a Member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Ghulam Muhammad had also submitted a No-Confidence Motion against Khalid Khurshid.

The Motion of No Confidence against the Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid was submitted by nine lawmakers from the opposition in order to thwart the possible plan of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to dissolve the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

Sources said that the Chief Minister was considering to dissolve the assembly.

Khalid Khurshid had assumed the Office of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on December 01, 2023.
