KashmirKashmir Black Day: OIC reaffirms its full solidarity with Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reaffirmed its full solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the realization of their right to self-determination.

In a statement in connection with the Kashmir Black Day being observed on Thursday, the OIC said that as October 27, 2022 marks the completion of 75 years of the occupation of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), its General Secretariat reiterated its full solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their quest for the right to self-determination.

Pursuant to the decisions and resolutions of the Islamic Summit and OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, the General Secretariat urged India to halt and reverse the illegal and unilateral actions taken on August 5, 2019 and subsequent steps to change the internationally recognized disputed status of the territory and to alter the demographic structure of the occupied territory.

The OIC General Secretariat demanded the respect for the basic human rights of the inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir.

It also reiterated its call on the international community to step up its efforts to resolve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Meanwhile, Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (OIC) and world over are observing Black Day today to convey a strong message to the world that they reject illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India.

The day is being marked by a complete shutdown and civil curfew by the people in IIOJK.

Protest marches, rallies and seminars are being held in Pakistan and abroad to condemn the invasion of the territory by Indian Army on October 27, 1947 as well as revocation of special status of occupied Kashmir on August 5, 2019.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
