Asia Cup 2022 Pakistan vs India T20

Will a quite young and inexperienced Pakistan succeed to conquer the Defending Champions India in their T20 clash of Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday night? (PTV Sports Live).

The recent past suggests that India has inarguably been dominant over Pakistan in both shorter formats of the game – ODI and T20Is.

In today’s match at Dubai beginning at 07:00 pm PST, both Pakistan and India will miss the services of their premier fast bowlers – Shaheen Shah Afridi and Jasprit Bumrah.

Since the inception of Asia Cup in 1984, both arch-rivals have met 14 times. India sealed the victory eight times and Pakistan secured five wins. While one rain and bad light-affected ODI at Colombo on July 20, 1997 ended without any result.

Of all 14 matches played between Pakistan and India in Asia Cup since 1984, 13 were played in 50-over format whereas the Asia Cup 2016 match held in Mirpur on February 27 was a T20I match and it was won by India by 5 wickets.

Asia Cup record: India 8, Pakistan 5

Overall, nine bilateral T20 encounters have taken place between Pakistan and India since 2007. India won six of them and Pakistan two while one T20I played in Durban on September 14, 2007 as part of ICC World Twenty20 was tied.

However, in their last T20 match at Dubai on October 24, 2021, Pakistan thoroughly outclassed India by 10 wickets in a one-sided game.
