NCOC meeting ends with no decision on closure of education institutions

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) met on Monday to discuss the COVID-19 epidemic curve chart data, the national vaccine strategy, and the disease prevalence across the Country.

The NCOC Session was chaired by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and the National Coordinator Major General Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and attended by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan virtually.

The Provincial Health and Education Ministers also joined the meeting virtually and told the NCOC about the steps being taken for implementation of NPIs, and COVID-19 SOPs in wake of a spike in the coronavirus cases.

The global and regional trends of the Omicron virus were discussed.

Keeping in view the new disease prevalence, a fresh set of Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) was presented and discussed with provinces, and the new set of NPIs will be implemented by provinces in the next 48 hours after the consultative process with all stakeholders.

The decision about education institutions will be taken on data of positive cases of various institutions for which massive testing in educational institutions is being carried out.
