The Committee for the Protection of Journalists estimates that between 1992 and 2019, at least 61 journalists were killed in Pakistan.
Therefore, to ensure the right of freedom of expression of media persons in the country, the Senate of Pakistan on Friday (November 19, 2021) passed the “Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Bill, 2021″ presented by the Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari.
The bill aimed at promoting, protecting, and effectively ensuring independence, impartiality, safety, and freedom of expression and media professionals.
