If Pakistan succeed to knockout Australia at Dubai on Thursday night, it would be their first-ever victory over Aussies in the eliminator of any ICC event.

In previous ICC World Cup knockout matches between the two sides, Pakistan lost to Australia; in Semi-Final of 1987 World Cup in Lahore, in Final of 1999 World Cup at Lord’s, in Semi-Final of 2010 T20 World Cup in Saint Lucia, and in Quarter-Final of 2015 World Cup in Adelaide.

However, overall Pakistan have a better winning percentage than Australia in bilateral T20 encounters. They have so far met in 23 T20 Internationals, and Pakistan are leading in them by 12-9.

In addition to that, Pakistan have won 16 consecutive T20Is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The last time they lost was in a Super Over against England in Sharjah in November 2015.

Just ahead of the Pakistan vs Australia Semi-Final, Mohammad Rizwan and Shoaib Malik suffered flu, casting doubts over their participation in the all-important game; though their COVID-19 test had returned negative.

Fortunately today, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel declared both the players fit to play in the Semi-Final against Australia.

Earlier last night, New Zealand defeated hot favorites England by 5 wickets in the first Semi-Final at Abu Dhabi.

In the quest of reaching the 167-run target, New Zealand finished the game in success in 19 overs with 5 wickets still in hand.
