NEW YORK: On the auspicious day of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, a Mehfil-e- Milad ceremony was held at the Pakistan Mission to the UN to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Eid-Milad-un-Nabi is being celebrated by Muslims around the world on the 12th day of Rabbi ul Awal, on the occasion of the birthday of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The event was attended by the officers and staff of the Pakistan Mission. Recitation from the Holy Quran and Naats were offered to pay respect and tribute to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Ambassador Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN in his message has said that “On the auspicious day of Milad un-Nabi which marks the day when our last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Saudi Arabia, I take the opportunity to express our heartiest greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters who are serving in the United Nations and outside. We cherish this day as being our sacred duty to follow the teachings of Allah that were sent to us through his beloved prophet and provide the path to salvation. Muhammad (PBUH) was not only a messenger of God but also a role model whose teachings set guidelines for the entire Ummah and the world. We also honor Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a great statesman and a successful diplomat who established diplomatic ties with world leaders through letters, envoys, or by visiting them personally. The defining moments of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) career as a diplomat are the Pledges at al-Aqabah, the Constitution of Medina, and the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Muhammad (PBUH) was a man of virtue, a perfect model in all aspects of life. He is rated as the greatest man in the history of mankind. His noble example is a perpetual beacon which lights the way for all humanity.”
