GUJRANWALA, Pakistan: The Change of Command Ceremony was held at Gujranwala Cantt on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, the ISPR said that Lieutenant General Syed Asim Munir handed over the Command of Gujranwala Corps to the new Corps Commander Gujranwala Lieutenant General Muhammad Aamer.

The outgoing Corps Commander Gujranwala Lt General Asim Munir has now been posted as the Quarter Master General (QMG), the ISPR announced on October 6.

Similarly, Lt General Muhammad Saeed has been posted as the Corps Commander Karachi and Lt General Noman Mahmood has been posted as the President National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad.

However, the issue of the appointment of the new Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is still hanging around as Lt General Faiz Hameed continues to head the Country’s premier spy agency after the differences emerged between the civil and military leadership over the issue.

Meanwhile, according to sources, a summary was sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday to appoint the new director-general ISI.

It’s worth noting that Lt General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, who had been serving as the Corp Commander Karachi, was posted as the new Chief of ISI as per the October 6 announcement while Lt General Faiz Hameed was posted as the Corps Commander Peshawar.
