Health40 million Sehut Cards to be distributed in Punjab early next year

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The process of distributing 40 million Sehut Insaf Cards under the Universal Health Coverage across 36 districts of Punjab will initiate on December 31, 2021 and be completed by March 2022.

It was apprised to Prime Minister Imran Khan in a meeting held in Islamabad on Friday to discuss the provision of Sehut Insaf Cards in Punjab.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill, the Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and other Senior Officials.

The prime minister was told that in a bid to ensure better use of the facility, a large-scale public awareness campaign will also be launched.

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the concerned authorities to utilize all the resources to ensure the effective implementation of the project.

Terming the provision of Health Cards as a very important initiative of the incumbent government, the prime minister said that the provision of the Universal Health Coverage is an important part of the vision of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

“Providing quality health care to the weaker segments of society is not only our responsibility but also a clear manifestation of our priorities,” he said.

The prime minister said that the health card initiative would provide quality healthcare to the weaker segments of the society as well as boost the hospital sector especially the private sector.

Imran Khan also directed the formation of special cells at the federal and provincial levels to make the implementation of the project effective.
